Puja being dedicated to Guru is being considered as doing Puja to the God directly as Gurus are being considered to be the direct representative of God. ![]() Guru Vyasa wrote Mahabharata and Srimad Bhagavata and also taught Dattatreya who is being considered to be the Guru of Gurus.Guru Vyasa is being worshipped by the devotees in honour of his divine personage with meditation, sacred songs, hyms and events. Guru Pournima is considered to be the most auspicious day as it is being celebrated in the memory of great sage Vyasa. The Guru Pournima Festival will fall on the 27th of July in 2018.Traditionally it falls on the full moon day in the Hindu calendar month of Ashadh(June-July). The practice was then borrowed be the Jain tradition and later the Hindus.
